Part 3: Personalizing Your Office Space

It's time for the third and final part of the Office Space Organization series! In this third step I will give you tips to help you create a functional workspace for you. If you haven't done the other two steps go do them. If you didn't this step will be difficult. If you have continue to read, you are almost to your goal of a functional office.

Step #1: Be Inspired

This is one of my favorite steps because it's easy and helps you become motivated and focused. Ways to get inspired is by reading blog post like this or going on Pinterest and seeing images of nice offices. I have boards on pinterest that you can take a look at. Being inspired helps you focus on what you want your office to look like.

Step #2: Set Up

Place your computur/ laptop in the best place for you. It's best to do this first this way you build your desk around this big item. If you have any decor items that you like to have on/near your desk now is the time to think about where they are going to go. Make sure they are not in your way. Your goal should be to have a space that keeps you focused and as neat as possible. So get rid of any decor that won't help you be productive.

Step #2: Office Supplies

I have my pens, index cards, sticky notes, and highlighters all in or on my desk. Now this might sound like a lot but in order for my space to work for me this is how I have it set up. Although this setup might not work for you. So maybe you need to have a sort of drawer or shelf area near your desk to store these items. Remeber the goal is to have your space work for you. If you do have your office supplies in/on your desk make sure they are organized and held in a contanier.

The most important thing about your worspace is that it's functional for you. Some things might not work for you and other things will. Don't be hesitant to try moving things around and reorganizing.
