How to: Time Management

The Productive

Last week we talked about how to create an efficient to-do list and this week you will learn how to take your planning to the Next Level. Time management is the process of planning and being in control of your time spent on a certain task or activity. The first step is to start. Today I will share tips and tools to help you manage your time.

1. Set a Timer

If you are struggling with procrastination set a timer for 5 minutes. The best way to beat procrastination is not by ignoring the tasks but to just start. setting a 5-minute timer will help you to start. I use the app Flora, Flora is a timer app that has you stay off your phone. For more information on Flora check my blog post here.

2. Pomodoro Technique

This technique is great! "The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method. This method asks you to, '...alternate pomodoros – focused work sessions – with frequent short breaks to promote sustained concentration and stave off mental fatigue.'" I f you struggle with focusing for a long period of time I recommend setting the timer for 25 minutes of work and then 5 minutes for a break.

3. Set Goals

Everyday set your goals of how long you want to spend on your work. For example, let's say you want to only spend 1 hour writing your essay. You would keep track of the time you spend writing. by doing this you won't spend less or more time.

4. Time Blocking

Tool: Google Calendar. I use Google Calendar to time block my different school subjects. I prefer to use time blocking on days when I have a large amount of work. On a day when you have a large number of tasks, time blocking will come in handy.

Those are your quick tips to manage your time. If you have any questions comment on them below! And if this was helpful leave a heart. Remember that learning to manage your time is a habit it will take time but it is worth it. You guys are amazing!
